This kitchen renovation on Holland Terrace in Montclair, New Jersey reflects a layered, eclectic approach—blending traditional architectural elements with a more modern sensibility. The goal was to create a space that feels both timeless and expressive, allowing old and new to coexist in a way that feels natural and refined.

Working within the character of the home, we preserved key architectural details while introducing contemporary elements to create contrast and visual interest. The result is a kitchen that feels grounded in its setting while still feeling current and elevated.

The design is anchored by a thoughtful mix of materials, combining classic finishes with more modern touches to create depth and balance. A curated palette allows each element to stand on its own while contributing to a cohesive overall composition.

Particular attention was given to how the kitchen connects to the surrounding spaces, ensuring a seamless flow between cooking, gathering, and everyday living. The layout was carefully considered to support both function and a more relaxed, social atmosphere.

Lighting was approached as both a functional and design element, enhancing the architectural features of the space while adding warmth and dimension. Each fixture was selected to complement the eclectic nature of the project without overwhelming it.

As with all of our projects, the design reflects the way the client lives—resulting in a kitchen that feels collected, inviting, and enduring.
