Obsessed with design and guided by a deeply artistic sensibility, Julieta Alvarez founded Julieta Alvarez Interiors in 2015 with the vision of creating interiors that are both soulful and refined. Based in Montclair, NJ, the studio specializes in high-end residential interior design and full-home renovations, serving clients throughout Montclair, Essex County, and the greater New York tristate area, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, and Connecticut.
Julieta’s process begins with an in-depth style discovery, allowing her to fully understand each client’s lifestyle, aesthetic preferences, and emotional connection to their home. Through thoughtful dialogue and careful observation, she uncovers what truly resonates—whether a material, palette, or defining piece—and builds a cohesive design narrative around it. Her approach is both intuitive and meticulous, informed by ongoing research, a highly trained eye, and a commitment to balancing beauty with function.
Rather than adhering to a singular aesthetic, Julieta’s work is defined by a layered, collected sensibility. She seamlessly blends old and new, incorporating rich textures, custom elements, and a thoughtful mix of materials to create interiors that feel sophisticated yet inviting—modern yet timeless. Each project is highly tailored, resulting in spaces that feel personal, elevated, and quietly luxurious.
With a focus on full-service interior design, Julieta oversees every phase of the process—from concept development and space planning to custom furnishings and final installation—ensuring a seamless and detail-driven experience. Her work often includes modern colonial homes and thoughtfully renovated residences throughout Montclair and surrounding New Jersey communities.
Julieta’s extensive travels and lifelong appreciation for architecture and craftsmanship have shaped her refined point of view and instinctive sense of proportion. Originally from Argentina, she moved to New York City in 2000 to pursue a career in interior design. Her background includes working for a real estate developer, graduating from the New York School of Interior Design, and spending five years at Jeff Lincoln Interiors before launching her own studio.
Outside of her work, Julieta is a devoted mother of two who draws inspiration from family life, travel, and time spent in the ocean surfing—experiences that continue to influence the warmth and authenticity found throughout her designs.
